Victorian conservatories
The traditional and still most popular style for garden conservatoriesy is the Victorian. Trademark details on this style include 3 or sometimes 5 facets across the front elevation of the structure and elaborate details on the ridge of the roof. This style is well suited for Victorian homes, but looks fabulous on a variety of other house designs as well.
Edwardian conservatories
Similar in styling to the Victorian, Edwardian conservatories are laid out in a square or rectangular shape, as opposed to the angles seen on the Victorian. Also called a Georgian conservatoriesy, the Edwardian includes an apexed roof with detailing and often has a sliding glass door on the front elevation.
Gable End conservatories
This square or rectangular shaped conservatory has a gabled end on the front elevation, creating a home extension that feels more spacious. Sliding doors are often installed under the gable or on the side wall. Some manufacturers call this style a Gable conservatory.
Lean To conservatories
Commonly called sunrooms or sun gardens, Lean To conservatories are very popular on contemporary homes. The roof line literally leans into the back wall of the conservatory, making this an ideal style to use where space is tight. A rectangular floor plan and lower roof line mark this style that is used often in bungalows. The Lean to is also termed a Home Extender conservatory by some manufacturers.
This style is on the opposite end of the spectrum as the Lean To and often used for period homes. Large and high, the lantern conservatory has a second layer of windows on top of the roof, lending the look of a lanterns to the building. Impressive and bold, this style is also on the higher end of the price range and only works where space permits.
Custom and P-Style conservatories
Quality and experienced contractors can design and create conservatories that specifically suit your property. Combining two different styles and laying out the floor plan differently can result in a custom conservatory, often labelled a P-Style based on the shape.
